So I finally feel like I can breathe. I finished my artistic response for 311 and my literacy classroom plan for 373. I got a 17 out of 20 on my last stats quiz… so I’ll get at least a B for the semester(depending on how he weights things). I have forensics Wednesday but that leaves all day tomorrow and Wednesday to study. Thursday is finite, but that should be an hour of studying max. I should do fine. Overall its been a fairly easy semester. Its been nice.

Today was day one of the stress free zone and it was AMAZING. There was a pretty good turnout of people which was great. We had sand art, spin art frisbees or puzzles, decorating picture frames and Christmas ornaments, making stress balls and aromatherapy pillows, and of course, lots of snacks.

I had so much fun. I made a puzzle which I ended up using for my 311 artistic response project. I also made sand art which is always fun while you’re doing it and then after its like…. um okay what do I do with this plastic moon shaped bottle filled with sand. It was really easy to set up and less messy that I thought. I was trying to think of some creative lesson I could do using sand art.  Maybe something with measuring… fill 1/4 of the bottle with red sand… etc.

I also made a wintery picture frame. Tomorrow I want to make more frames, some christmas ornaments, a frisbee for my brother, and who knows what else. Ahh so much fun.

Why does time go so fast? I thought I woke up at a reasonable hour, but I didn’t get home from brunch untill 1:15. And then I started my laundry… which always takes longer than I expect. I didn’t shower untill 3:15 and now my roomate’s parents are here to take us to dinner. I havent gotten any work done. My boyfriend wants to go shopping tonight, but I just don’t think I have time!

I don’t spend enough time listening to music. I really love music. I would give up sight over hearing just so I could still listen to music, and yet I don’t spend nearly enough time listening to it.

Today I was listening to a Dar Williams song that I’ve heard hundreds of times and I realized… oh man there are violins in this song. I had never realized it before. And all of a suddent the violin line was powerful and told its own story.

amazing.

Oh school is winding down and my schedule is super crazy. I feel like I have meetings and programs and tests non stop. ahhh.

Tonight was a hall council program that me and Brittney basically did all the work for. Which is ridiculous because we aren’t even officially members. One girl was alot of help, but the president, vice president…. nowhere to be seen.

I’m trying to plan my documentation panels for 311 and I love my plan but I dont think its what Dr. Wright wants at all.

Tomorrow I have to call work and hopefully get on the schedule for Christmas and then explain how I need days off for my boyfriend to visit. I feel like they’ll mess it up and schedule me anyway and I’ll need to find covers. ugh. But Better that then not being put on the schedule at all. Since I hostess and work counter I should get on. Otherwise I can just cover for people. I’m sure my brother will give me his shifts. And he seemed to get lots of people asking for covers when I was home over thanksgiving.

I’ll just be glad when all this stress is done.

Tonight I went to the Linguistics Speaker Series with one education class and heard Dr. John Baugh.  His lecture was fascinating. I wish I had more free time because I think I would definitely concentrate in Linguistics. I had so much fun in 101 last semester.

But at the speaker, these two girls asked the stupidest questions. Dr. Baugh was this ridiculously intelligent man and they just like rambled on and like on. ugh!

I decided I want to speak in the national standard English, like television broadcasters do. I think it sounds fabulous.

So, I definately forgot about writing in this. I just remembered. Fabulous.

Right now I am incredibly stressed and I dont even think Thanksgiving will be a break. I’ll be excited for the nice breather Christmas will be. But I’m not sure how the long distance thing with my boyfriend will go. Or how working with my ex-boyfriend will be(if he still works there).

My to do list is overwhelming. My room is a mess but I can’t sit still long enough to clean it. I just want to put everything off and obviously I can’t. RA stuff is crazy, HR applications are due next week which means asking people for references, updating my resume, and writing a cover letter.  I hate cover letters.

My family is falling apart. I dont know how to deal with it.

I’m on duty at 7am tomorrow morning untill 8am monday.

I can’t deal.

Joey Comeau (one of my favorite writers) wrote “I really like taking the train. It is peaceful, I think. Airplanes are all stress and hurrying and emptying your pockets. The train is all waving to cows and holding warm cups of coffee.” and he’s right. Trains are peaceful. Its hard to argue the emptying the pockets bit of airplanes.

The trick to flying is giving yourself at least an hour or two at the airport, an hour or two after you’ve been through security and checked your bags. Then you can sit in the food court eating french fries and people watching. You can go buy magazines that tell you better ways to please your man or what will happen to Brittney Spears. You read trashy magazines and listen to music and people watch.

Train stations are not good spots for sitting and waiting. Train stations are watching the board to see what platform the train will come into. Train stations are bracing yourself as the loud frieght train drives through noisily, blasting you with smelly wind. Airports are bright and sunny and full of people going to Disney World or Grandma’s house or home.

In my education class the other day my professor read us a book about a boy who collects words he likes. So I’ve been starting to notice words that I really like. For example: nonsense and acquiesce. Both these words have the “ess” sound at the end. I wonder if thats a pattern I enjoy or if its just a coincidence.

Today was an awesome day. Me and my roomate both slept much later than we had planned. We went to get bagels and then to watch part of the tennis tournament. That was fun but it was so hot out. We met up with some friends who we had planned to have a picnic with. We got KFC and went to the Rappahannock. I’ve never been to a river before so that was cool. After we ate we traversed the river. It was alot of fun, much more than i expected. I really want to go back soon. Then we came back to campus and went to the 365  show in the studio. The plays were insane. I really don’t enjoy theater that isnt realistic or at least makes sense.
